Celanese ELOTEX® redispersible polymer powders (RDP) are widely recognised functional organic binders for modern dry-mix mortar formulations. Manufactured by spray-drying tailored polymer dispersions, these free-flowing powders can re-disperse in water to rebuild the original polymer emulsion, forming continuous polymer films within cementitious or gypsum matrices to upgrade adhesion, cohesion, flexibility, water resistance, workability and long-term durability.
The five core grades — ELOTEX® FX2320, FX7000, HD1500, HD2040 and FL1210 — form a structured product portfolio covering mainstream dry-mix segments including external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS), premium tile adhesives, rigid waterproof mortars, concrete repair mortars and self-leveling flooring compounds. Each grade is engineered with distinct polymer chemistry and performance orientation, giving formulators clear, targeted options to meet specification standards, weathering requirements and indoor emission regulations.
ELOTEX® FX2320
ELOTEX® FX2320 is a vinyl acetate-ethylene (VA/E) flexible RDP developed primarily for ETICS systems. It features a low minimum film formation temperature (MFFT), enabling continuous, flexible film formation under moderate and low-temperature construction conditions. Its outstanding crack-bridging capacity helps render layers accommodate thermal and moisture-induced substrate deformation, significantly reducing the risk of cracking, hollowing and delamination on external walls.
FX2320 delivers reliable adhesion to EPS and mineral substrates, which makes it suitable for both insulation board adhesive mortar and reinforced base coat render. This grade holds EMICODE EC1PLUS certification for ultra-low VOC emissions, complying with strict green building and indoor air quality standards. Formulators favour FX2320 for balanced rheological behaviour: it improves trowelability and open time without introducing excessive air entrainment, supporting stable, repeatable production for standard and high-performance ETICS lines.
ELOTEX® FX7000
ELOTEX® FX7000 is a styrene-acrylic (Ac/Sty) RDP designed for high-strength, high-abrasion mortar systems. Compared with conventional VA/E grades, its styrene-acrylic backbone delivers higher tensile cohesion, superior surface hardness and enhanced abrasion resistance after film curing. It maintains stable bonding strength under long-term water exposure and cyclic weathering, fitting premium tile adhesives, heavy-duty decorative renders and high-performance grouts where high mechanical resistance is prioritised.
FX7000 helps tile adhesive formulations resist slip under heavy tile weight and extend adjustable open time for large-format tile installation. Its polymer film exhibits good resistance to UV ageing, so it is also selected for exterior decorative mortars exposed to direct sunlight. In formulation practice, FX7000 can be used alone or combined with flexible VA/E grades to strike a balance between rigid strength and crack tolerance.
ELOTEX® HD1500
ELOTEX® HD1500 belongs to the hydrophobic VA/VeoVa/Ac modified RDP series, optimised for rigid waterproof mortars and dense repair mortars. Its proprietary polymer structure brings inherent water repellency and excellent saponification resistance, which is critical for cementitious systems under continuous hydrostatic pressure and alkaline curing environments. The polymer network blocks capillary water transport, raising impermeability and reducing water absorption of hardened mortar.
Beyond waterproofing screeds and slurry coatings, HD1500 works well for structural repair mortars, levelling compounds and grouts requiring high compactness. It improves flexural strength while retaining reasonable internal flexibility, avoiding brittle failure of dense cement matrices. The grade features controlled redispersion characteristics and low foaming tendency, making it compatible with superplasticisers, water-retention agents and other common dry-mix additives.
ELOTEX® HD2040
ELOTEX® HD2040 is another high-performance hydrophobic RDP with advanced VA/VeoVa chemistry, positioned for demanding waterproofing and restoration applications. It builds on the water-repellent and alkali-resistant advantages of HD-type products, with further optimisation on film density and long-term hydrolytic stability. HD2040 maintains its water-barrier performance after prolonged wet-dry cycles, a key advantage for underground waterproof layers, balcony screeds and aged concrete renovation mortar.
HD2040 offers robust adhesion to damp mineral substrates, which reduces the risk of interface separation in repair scenarios. It can be deployed in single-component waterproof dry-mix formulations, eliminating on-site liquid blending steps and simplifying quality control for mortar manufacturers. When paired with selected fillers and setting regulators, HD2040 supports high impermeability grades according to European and national waterproof mortar norms.
ELOTEX® FL1210
ELOTEX® FL1210 is a rheology-tailored RDP specially engineered for self-leveling underlayments and gypsum-based flowable compounds. Unlike strength-oriented or hydrophobic grades, its core design target is to regulate flow behaviour, levelling property and surface finishing. It reduces surface tension during hydration, promotes uniform spreading, minimises pinholes, orange peel and surface ripples after placement, and delivers a smooth, flat base for final floor covering.
FL1210 stabilises the rheology of pumpable self-leveling mixes: it prevents segregation and bleeding while preserving sufficient flow distance. It also enhances green strength and flexible bonding to cement substrates, improving crack resistance of thin-layer self-leveling screeds. It is widely adopted in cement self-leveling, gypsum self-leveling and indoor floor repair compounds, and fits low-emission interior flooring systems.
Closing Summary
The five ELOTEX® RDP grades cover a clear performance spectrum: FX2320 provides flexible, low-emission ETICS performance; FX7000 supplies styrene-acrylic rigid strength and abrasion resistance for tile and decorative mortars; HD1500 and HD2040 are hydrophobic, alkali-resistant binders for waterproofing and repair; FL1210 controls flow and surface quality for self-leveling flooring.
This portfolio enables dry-mix formulators to select the correct grade based on application function, mechanical targets, exposure environment and green certification requirements. With consistent batch quality, stable redispersibility and proven field track records, ELOTEX® RDP remains a reliable binder solution for high-specification dry-mix construction materials across Asia-Pacific and global markets.
